News: Michael Jackson Auction Fetches Big Money

Posted in black gossip, black news with tags , on November 22, 2009 by Staff

Handwritten lyrics to the 1983 hit "Beat It," scribbled on a piece of paper, went for $60,000.

New York (CNN) — More than 80 Michael Jackson collectibles — including the late pop star’s famous rhinestone-studded glove from a 1983 performance — were auctioned off Saturday, reaping a total $2 million.

Profits from the auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York’s Times Square crushed pre-sale expectations of only $120,000 in sales.

The highly prized memorabilia, which included items spanning the many stages of Jackson’s career, came from more than 30 fans, associates and family members, who contacted Julien’s Auctions to sell their gifts and mementos of the singer.

Jackson’s flashy glove was the big-ticket item of the night, fetching $420,000 from a buyer in Hong Kong, China. Jackson wore the glove at a 1983 performance during "Motown 25," an NBC special where he debuted his revolutionary moonwalk.

Dr. Boyce: Heather Ellis Video Released

When I held the rally for Heather Ellis last week, the woman facing up to 15-years in prison after allegedly cutting line at a Wal-Mart, I was hoping that one day the rest of the world could see what I saw nearly two weeks ago. In spite of the prosecutor’s contention that the video tape would prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt, the truth is that the video is highly inconclusive. Check the video out and see for yourself.

News: Detroit Man Shoots His own Son in the Head!

Posted in black gossip, black news with tags on November 19, 2009 by Staff

Jamar Pinkney Sr

Jamar Pinkney, Sr. of Detroit is accused of shooting his 15-year-old son

in the head execution style. The shooting occurred after his son, Jamar Jr., confessed that he’d done something inappropriate to his 3-year-old sister. Jamar Sr. came home, stripped his son naked, took him outside the house and shot him in the head.

Lazette Cherry, Jamar Jr.’s mother, said she wanted to get help for her son when he confessed to what he’d done with his sister. She claims, however, that there was no rape. She says that her son admitted that he knew that lying down on top of the little girl was wrong.

"He got on his knees and begged, ‘No, Daddy! No!’ and he pulled the trigger," she said. "There wasn’t nothing that my son wouldn’t do for his father. He loved his father so much."

Why Beyonce Should Never Have Kids

First Bey and Jay didn’t want kids and then they did and now they don’t. Either way the thought of Beyonce having kids could be a very scary thing. Here’s 9 reasons why Beyonce shouldn’t have kids just yet:

*Disclaimer: I don’t hate kids or moms. I applaud and admire every mother out there and if you’re a mom, by default you are fierce!

1. Hips Don’t Lie

Bey currently has all the right curves in all the right places and knows how to work it. I’m afraid that if she pops out a kid those hips aren’t going to bounce back.

2. Career Suicide

Babies can be notorious career killers. Just take a look at Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera. What are any of them doing now??

How Rihanna Is Profiting from Her Tragedy

Posted in black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip with tags , , on November 12, 2009 by Staff

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Syracuse University

I hated what Chris Brown did to Rihanna. I was angered, disappointed and irritated by the fact that many are quick to forgive egregious behavior on the part of celebrities, and a hit song can forgive all sins. At the same time, celebs are just like the rest of us, full of complexities that the world may never come to understand. Rihanna has walked away from Chris and she is now telling the entire world how bad of a man he is, and we’re all taking her side.

The problem for Rihanna, however, is that her actions aren’t making much sense.

Rihanna’s recent whirlwind media tour has included the likes of ABC News, MTV and other major media outlets. Throughout this tour, she has allowed the world to enter into her dark reflection on the relationship she had with Chris Brown, with that reflection seeming to have almost no productive purpose. I am not sure why the he-say/she-say between two 19-year old kids should be the concern of the nation. But then again, I am sitting here writing about it, so I am as guilty as everyone else.

Black News: Black Professor Punches Out a White Colleague in Conversation Over Race

Posted in black gossip, black news with tags , on November 11, 2009 by Staff

A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.

Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.

McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school’s theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.

McIntyre, who is known as "Mac" at the bar, shoved Davis, and when the other patron and a bar employee tried to break it up, the prof slugged Davis in the face, witnesses said.

"The punch was so loud, the kitchen workers in the back heard it over all the noise," bar back Richie Velez, 28, told The Post. "I was on my way over when he punched Camille and she fell on top of me."

Did Jigga Get Charlamagne Tha God Fired from His Job?

The people at Media Outrage did an interview with an insider at 100.3 The Beat to see if Jigga really did have a role in getting Charlamagne Tha God Fired over his interview with Beanie Sigal.  Here’s what they had to say:

MO: Was Charlamagne fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?

Person: Yes, I am %100 sure that he was let go because of his interview with Beanie Sigel.

MO: So you’re not speculating like the rest of us right now?

Person: No

MO: Why would they do that though, knowing that that interview brought high ratings?

Person: You have to understand as I’m very sure that he already does, the station has to maintain an amicable relationship with Jay-Z and his camp because this man is the biggest rapper in the game right now. Infact, he’s not really even a rapper anymore. He’s a business. So you can’t risk ruining a relationship like that just to draw ratings. A radio personality can always be replaced and with the proper set-up, put in a position to succeed. It’s better for the station to replace that person than ruin a relationship with someone who has been on top of the game for years now.

MO: So you are saying that you are really %100 sure that Charlamagne was fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?

Person: Yes. I can’t really go into the particulars but that’s what I was told. Is it foul? Yes. This is the business that we are in though.

MO: Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us.

Review: Michael’s Movie is Gooooood

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, african american news, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip with tags , on October 28, 2009 by Staff

'This Is It' is a final act fit for a king

Believe the hype. This Is It dispels any doubts about Michael Jackson’s creative genius.

Clearly separating him from other artists of his day, longtime collaborator and the film’s director Kenny Ortega emphasizes exactly why Michael Jackson earned his "King of Pop" title. Culled from more than one hundred hours of footage, This Is It goes beyond the best of Michael Jackson’s rehearsal reels. Instead, Ortega – better known now for directing the High School High Musical films than his many other achievements which include co-creating and co-directing Jackson’s Dangerous and HIStory world tours, elects to highlight Michael Jackson’s creative process and erases any doubt that what you saw with Michael came from anybody but him and God.

In a world of manufactured music where contemporary artists, many with big names, are unable to sing and dance simultaneously, This Is It reminds us that Michael Jackson was of a generation of cultivated and honed talent where practice did indeed make perfect. There was no resting on laurels with Michael Jackson. It wasn’t just magic. It was tireless work and effort – the two attributes that aren’t often applied to the genius of African-American performers so liberally.

Why Spike Lee Might Be Wrong About Tyler Perry

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, african american news, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip on October 27, 2009 by Staff

tyler-perry_spike-lee

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Black Planet

I woke up this morning to see that Tyler Perry is being forced to defend himself against nasty allegations coming from Spike Lee.  Spike has made it clear that he doesn’t appreciate what he perceives to be “coonery” in Tyler Perry films and TV shows. When I saw Perry flat out say that the accusations “pissed him off,” I thought, “Wow, now that’s an honest brother!”

RELATED: Tyler Perry Responds To Spike Lee’s “Coonery” Criticism

I grew up on Spike Lee and I’ll always love him.  I am also certain that images of black people singing, dancing and eating chicken certainly won Perry instant favor with the not-so-in-touch executives in Hollywood.  But here are three reasons that Spike Lee might be wrong about Tyler Perry:

1)    Tyler Perry is not all about Madea: I went onto BET a few times to talk about Hip Hop.  My hoity-toity friends in academia (many of whom pride themselves on writing research papers for journals that nobody ever reads) criticized me for being “unscholarly” by talking to rappers.  But my response was that hip hop culture has a dramatic influence on the young minds that I am trying to reach with education.  You don’t get a baby to eat healthy by only forcing vegetables down his throat; you sprinkle sugar on the food to get the child’s attention.  It’s not always a matter of forcing people to consume what they NEED – you should also be willing to let them have some of what they WANT.  Every positive black movie doesn’t have to be a PBS special.

News: Tavis Smiley Gets Named Taken Off Building

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip with tags , on October 27, 2009 by Staff

tavis_smiley

A long-simmering disagreement between broadcaster Tavis Smiley and Texas Southern University ended Friday when the university’s governing board agreed to strip Smiley’s name from its communication school.

Smiley promised in 2004 to donate $1 million and to raise another $1 million for TSU. The school later created the Tavis Smiley School of Communication in his honor.

In return, Smiley made one $50,000 donation in mid-2005 and raised $250,000 from three corporate donors.

But he said Friday that he had intended to fulfill his personal $1 million pledge.

“Any institution that turns away a $1 million gift in this economy, I think ought to have good reason for doing that,” he said in a telephone interview.

He also said former university President Priscilla Slade offered to name the school for him before he pledged any money.

“I even made a joke, how much is this decision going to cost me?” he said. “She said, ‘This decision has already been made.’”

“It doesn’t feel good,” he said of the board’s decision. “My intentions were to help the students.”

WTF? Writer Claims Malcolm X was Bi-Sexual

nm_malcolm_x_081104_ssh

Peter Tatchell wrote a piece in the UK Guardian, called “Malcolm X Was Bisexual, Get Over It.”Tatchell writes that he is disappointed in the lack of recognition for gay and lesbian African Americans for Black History Month (Black History Month is in October in the UK). He writes:

Perhaps it is unintentional but Black History Month sometimes feels like Straight Black History Month. Famous Black LGBT people are not acknowledged and celebrated. Either their contribution to Black history and culture is ignored or their sexuality is airbrushed out of their biographies.

He goes on to write that one famous Black LGBT person is none other than Malcolm X:

A good example of this neglect is the denialism surrounding the bisexuality of one of the greatest modern Black liberation heroes: Malcolm X. The lack of recognition is perhaps not surprising, given that some of his family and many black activists have made strenuous efforts to deny his same-sex relationships and suppress recognition of the full spectrum of his sexuality.

From Dr Boyce Watkins

To the Your Black World family:

When the children of my assistant Shauntay (Justin and Journi) brought the case of Heather Ellis to me, I was in disbelief.  I was shocked that in 2009, a young college student, with no criminal record, could face 15 years in prison for cutting line at Walmart.  I was even more appalled by the threats from the KKK and allegations by local leaders that the town went as far as blacking out the local news coverage during the minutes that the family held a press conference in support of their daughter.  We sent information about the case to CNN and other media outlets, and they covered it (along with BET, Essence, ABC News and others), but I don’t feel this is enough.  We’ve decided that we aren’t going to take this sitting down, and we hope you won’t either

In honor of Justin and Journi, the two young visionaries who convinced me to take on this issue, we’ve created the "Journey for Justice," set to take place in Kennett, Missouri on Monday, November 16 at 11 am.  On that day, we are going to meet at the Walmart where the incident took place (1500 1st St., Kennett, MO) and march to the steps of the courthouse(Square 200 Slicer St.).  You can find out more information about the case and rally on the site www.TheHeatherEllisCase.com.  Given that the prosecutor in the case (Stephen Sokoloff) has asked for a change of venue (to Bloomfield, MO – a town with less than 20 black people), some of the details of the rally might change (I have no doubt that they are scheming to make this as difficult as possible).  But I can guarantee you this: On November 16, we are heading down there to fight against the madness occurring in this county, no matter what the cost.

Kanye West Gets Assault Charges Dropped

By Moguldom

Kanye West and his manager Don “DC” Crowley have been cleared of all three-misdemeanor charges that resulted from a scuffle with the paparazzi in 2008. The charges of battery, grand theft and vandalism against West and Crowley were thrown out by Los Angeles court commissioner Mark Zuckman.

Not getting away scott free, the two will have to do 50-hours of community service and then the matter will be expunged from their records. They also paid the paparazzi in a civil suit, which further helped the case get tossed. The two also completed 12 hours of anger management classes.

As previously reported, on September 12, 2008, harassing photographers caught the short end of the stick when the two got into a shoving match with the hounding reporters that resulted in the cameras and gear being smashed.

Joe Jackson Receives Award for Good Parenting…Interesting

Rev. Al Sharpton (r.) presents an award to Joe Jackson at the National Action Network headquarters.

By Tanyanika Samuels and Christina Boyle

The Rev. Al Sharpton believes the world needs more fathers likeJoe Jackson – a man the King of Pop said routinely beat him and his siblings when they were children.

The civil rights leader heaped praise on the dad’s parenting skills at the National Action Network in Harlem Saturday.

"The arrogance of [people] attacking a man for being a stern father," Sharpton said. "I wish we had more stern fathers – then we wouldn’t be shooting each other up."

Jackson said he was honored to be recognized by Sharpton.

"This feels great," he said. "I feel like I’m someone very special."

Juan Williams Called an Uncle Tom

Posted in black gossip, black news with tags , , on October 22, 2009 by Staff

I have no idea why FOX News political commentator Juan Williams is defendingRush Limbaugh, perhaps the most divisive, hateful person in American media today. I’m not sure why Williams is letting FOX News use him in the same way Armstrong Williams has always trotted out to defend conservative issues. (It’s hard out there for a journalist.)
However, I do know that he does not deserve to be told to "go back to the porch," as radio talk show host Warren Ballentine said during a debate about Limbaugh last week.
The comments were made by Ballentine during a discussion with Williams on the ‘O’Reilly Factor’ about Limbaugh being dropped from a bid to purchase the St. Louis Rams football team. Williams and Ballentine disagreed about whether the ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ song that Rush Limbaugh played was "racial."
BILL O’REILLY: The reason that Limbaugh is not going to be able to buy in to the NFL is because a bunch of made-up stuff became legend, and he got hammered.
WARREN BALLANTINE: Okay, we won’t look at the made-up stuff. Let’s look at him playing ‘Barack the Magic Negro,’ and we’re going to say that’s just funny, that’s just a joke, that’s not racial either. It is racial to real black people.

News: Black Barbies Come Out – What do you think?

The new black Barbies released by Mattel have fuller lips, curlier hair and other features that the company says more accurately represent African-American women.

Some have cheered the new dolls. Others jeered them, saying they’re not black enough.

"I love the black Barbie. It’s about time," Jua Simpson said on CNN’s iReport, a user-generated news community. "But the hair is still a step backwards, since most of our hair is not straight and light brown."

Others disagree with critics who say the dolls should have had more natural black hairstyles, such as afros or braids.

"Many people have criticized the dolls for either having hair that’s too long or too straight, but I have long, straight hair that I straightened. But it’s my hair and a part of me," said Tanisa Zoe Samuel, an African-American iReporter from the Turks and Caicos, in the Caribbean. "Black women come in all shades, shapes and varieties that there is just no way to capture everyone with three dolls." iReport.com: Samuel shares her thoughts on the new Barbie

The dolls were created by Stacy McBride-Irby, an African-American who watched her daughter play with dolls and wanted to create a doll that looked more like her.

Should This Man Have Shot the Boy Having Sex with His Daughter

Posted in black celebrity gossip, black gossip, black love, black news with tags , , on October 21, 2009 by Staff

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Syracuse University, AOL Black Voices

I have daughters and I love them all. They are all at "that age," between 16 and 20, where they tend to love the boys that you want to beat down the most. Every time I hear them express their undying love for Lil Wayne, I can only think about him having 3 women pregnant at the same time. When I see a Chris Brown poster in their room, I remind them that Chris was accused of having boxing practice on Rihanna’s face.

But as a father, you can’t protect your daughters from themselves. Some things they have to learn on their own. And if sleeping with a pants-saggin, "purple stuff dranking," gold grill wearing, 10,000 tattoo having buffoon is the way they need to learn their lessons, you just kinda have to deal with it.I empathize with Wade Edwards, the man accused of shooting a boy for sleeping with his step daughter. Wade shot the boy four times, aiming for the "relevant zone" with each bullet. But while I can understand Wade’s anger, I do not, for one second, condone his actions.

What? Ice Cube’s New Movie Turns into Marketing Garbage

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip with tags , , on October 21, 2009 by Staff

This past weekend, when folks were flocking to theaters to see ‘Where the Wild Things Are,’ ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ and ‘Black Dynamite,’ one film that was released without much fanfare was Ice Cube’s latest, ‘Janky Promoters.’

No trailer, one poster and no marketing spells disaster. ‘Janky’ isn’t even listed in this week’s top 125 films.

Initially set to be released last March by the Weinstein Co., the film was dropped down to its DVD division company, Third Rail Releasing. It was released in just 22 theaters, where it grossed a dismal $5,300. It averaged $240 per theater.

‘Janky’ follows the shenanigans of a pair of shady concert promoters (Cube and Mike Epps), who get in over their heads when they get a shot at booking a big-name hip-hop act (Young Jeezy). Complications come in the form of a pot-growing neighborhood nemesis named Mondo and Cube’s character’s son (Nickelodeon star Little JJ), who is under contract with the old man.

Also starring in the film are Terry Crews, Glenn Plummer and Tamala Jones.

In a call this week to the only theater in New York City where the film is playing, the operator stated that no one had bought tickets for the first two showings.

News: Massive Protests planned in the Heather Ellis Case

from Your Black World, SaveHeatherEllis.com

Kennett, MO. – Heather Ellis, a young college student out of Kennett, MO is now facing 15 years in prison if she is sentenced after being accused of cutting line at a local Walmart. Her case has gotten the attention of the nation, and has been the subject of extensive online protests.

Heather was in a Walmart store 3 years ago with her cousin. The two split up to find the shortest line. Since her cousin was in the shorter line, Heather joined him. That’s when the clerk accused Heather of cutting in front of the other customers. An argument ensued, leading to the manager and security guard being called, and finally the police.

The incident left Ellis, an honor student on her way to medical school, charged with disturbing the peace, trespassing and two counts of assaulting a police officer. After Heather refused to sign a plea agreement, Stephen Sokoloff, the town’s prosecutor, filed felony charges against Heather.

Racism? Boy Gets Set on Fire by His Classmates

A black Missouri teen, who last month was doused with gasoline and set afire by two white schoolmates, now faces charges himself as he recovers from burns over most of his body.

Walter Currie Jr., a 15-year-old in Poplar Bluff, Mo., was burned on June 13 after an exchange with two teens with whom he reportedly had a previous altercation.

The youth who allegedly doused him with the gasoline and lit the fuel has been charged with assault as a juvenile, Currie’s parents said.
On July 6, several weeks after the incident, authorities gave Currie and his parents notice that he is being charged in connection with another incident where a teen related to the youth who set him afire was hit in the face, said Winonia Currie, Walter’s mother.

“All of a sudden, they decided to charge him with something that happened on June 10, but Walter said he didn’t have anything to do with it,” she said.

Because all of the people involved are juveniles, court officials in Butler County, Missouri said they can give only limited details on the incidents and cannot discuss names.

“I can tell you that there are charges against everyone involved,” Lesi Smith, chief juvenile officer for Butler County, told BlackAmericaWeb.com.

Three People Die During a Marathon in Detroit

A half-marathoner and two other runners died during the Detroitmarathon on Sunday, organizers said.

Daniel Langdon, 36, of Laingsburg, collapsed at about 9:02 a.m. between the 11- and 12-mile markers, said Rich Harshbarger, vice president of consumer marketing for the Detroit Media Partnership.

Rick Brown, 65, of Marietta, Ohio, collapsed at 9:17 a.m., near where Langdon went down, and 26-year-old Jon Fenlon of Waterford collapsed at about 9:18 a.m., just after finishing the half-marathon in 1:53:37, Harshbarger said.

It was unclear whether Brown and Langdon were participating in the 13.1-mile half marathon or the full race.

Harshbarger told the Free Press that there were at least six medical stations on the race course and that emergency personnel were on the scene within seconds.

Every runner must sign a medical release form, and they are encouraged to talk to their doctors before they run the race, Harshbarger said.

"On a day when so many people bring such energy and challenge themselves to do their utmost, this news is very difficult to hear," said Free Press editor and publisher Paul Anger said. "Our deepest sympathies are with the families."

Is Beyonce Lying about Being a Songwriter?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 15, 2009 by nyshiat

This is isn’t the first time that Beyonce has been put on blast for not actually being a songwriter, but according to an inside source she didn’t write any of the songs on her “I Am…Sasha Fierce” album.  Here is what they had to say.

A lot of these artists claim to be songwriters, but don’t always write a thing. Some, like Beyonce, serve as vocal arrangements, which points to part of the song’s composition, and thus, receive a songwriting and production credit. Others, like Beyonce, can demand credit based on their name alone. I myself have heard of new song writers looking for placement with Beyonce’s last album being told Beyonce demands a certain amount of publishing upfront (and it’s substantial) or they could “be paid handsomely” to politely remove their name from the song altogether. Fact is, Beyonce didn’t write one song on “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” Beyonce and her team have bought the rights from the songwriters and then Beyonce took credit for it. I have no idea about previous albums but it’s obvious that Beyonce never had a pen in her hand, which is a shame because Beyonce claims something she isn’t.

Heather Ellis, the KKK, and 15 Years in Prison: What People Need to do Right Now

Posted in black gossip, black news with tags , , , on October 14, 2009 by Staff

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, AOL Black Voices, Syracuse University

I mentioned the story before about Heather Ellis, the young woman who was threatened by the KKK after protesting about her arrest that took place in a Walmart store. The story was quite interesting in that Ellis now faces 15 years in prison for effectively cutting line at a Walmart. The unfortunate events occurred when Ellis was shopping with a cousin in Kennett, Missouri.

Heather and her cousin went to separate lines and when her cousin found the shorter line, Heather joined him. Ellis was then accused of cutting line by the person checking out customers, which led to an altercation. When Ellis was asked to leave the store, she argued with the managers, which led to the police being called. Ellis was eventually charged with disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a police officer.

Bill Cosby dropping a CD

Bill Cosby has been holding a mirror to Black America over the last few years and rightfully so as teenage pregnancy, high school drop out rates and murders like that of Derrion Albert seem to become normal.

Now stepping into the music genre again, the famed comedian and Black activist plans to rekindle Hip-Hop’s socially conscious flame on Bill Cosby Presents the Cosnarati: State of Emergency,” an album of music with messages reflecting today’s most critical issues affecting young people.

“Good Hair” Receives Some Criticism

by Alynda Wheat

Chris Rock’s documentary, Good Hair, opened Friday to mixed, but frequently positive, reviews. I’m going to take the painful stance of suggesting that’s because there aren’t a lot of black women in the film reviewing community. Good Hair is often funny, fascinating, and raises a few key ideas. What it doesn’t do is offer a cogent, relevant analysis of why black women relax their hair or wear hair extensions — which was supposed to have been the point.

Some background: Rock says he did the film because his daughter came to him one day, upset, that she didn’t have “good hair.” This apparently prompted the comedian to begin an odyssey that took him from the hair salons of New York City to a hair show in Atlanta, from Indian hair-shaving ceremonies, to the Beverly Hills salons that buy the Indian hair. But in all that conversation what you never hear are opposing viewpoints. Nearly everyone in Chris Rock’s movie seems to agree on a few critical ideas (that can happen when you limit your sample). Frankly, as a black woman, I sat through Good Hair with one dominant thought: Who are these people? Their opinions rarely represented my own, or those of anyone I know. I am but one voice in this vast, complicated community, but I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t say something. Here, a few of the ways Good Hair gets it entirely wrong.

Braylon Edwards

When you play for a city’s two biggest professional sports teams, you’d think that there would be a sense of unity and camaraderie among athletes. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards. According to a report from the Associated Press, after the Bengals beat down the Browns on Sunday, Edwards went clubbing at a venue where one of LeBron’s good friends, Edward Givens, promotes club nights. An argument between Edwards and Givens ensued, and it ended with Givens at the hospital with a black eye and a cut.

"Braylon comes up and started saying things, degrading me," Givens told the Cleveland Plains Dealer. "He said if it wasn’t for LeBron or the Four Horsemen [James' friends and business partners], I wouldn’t have what I have, nor would I be able to get girls. And, like anyone else, I would like to think that my entire life or career is not judged by one error or mistake.

It is very easy to criticize someone and I have left myself open to criticism. That is fair.

There are plenty of people that will attest that I have done a lot for them. It seems though, that negativity gets more attention than positivity.

All I can say to that, is before you level any further criticism and cynicism, walk in my shoes. I am making this statement to apologize to the people that truly care about me for any angst that this situation has caused, and to thank them for their continued support. I am proud of what I have been able to do for so many others, and would like to let those persons know that I will continue to be there for them no matter what.

I am proud that during my twenty plus years as a pioneer in the Hip-Hop industry to have opened doors for those who came after me.

I will have no further statement in regards to this matter at this time

Please contact my management at Spydo Music xxx-xxx-xxxx or my publicist Belinda Foster at xxxx for any further inquiry.

Roxanne Shante

Black News: Michelle Obama Gets Criticized for Her Staff Size

FILE- This Sept. 17, 2009 file photo shows first lady Michelle ...

In the past it’s been almost a tradition for America’s first ladies to catch flack from their husbands’ political opponents over the size of their staffs, and Michelle Obama certainly hasn’t been exempt from that. Criticism of her "massive" staff has popped up on email chains, blogs, and chat rooms. But what are the facts regarding how many people are under her employ, and how does the size of her staff compare to that of past first ladies?

On July 1st of this year, the Obama White House posted the Annual Report to Congress on White House Staff on its official blog. A minor uproar over the first lady’s staff size ensued. One critic atCanadianFreePress.com accused the president’s wife of employing an "unprecedented number of staffers" for someone who "doesn’t perform any official duties," while a widely circulated chain email reported that "there has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life." Many other critics of the Obama administration expressed similar sentiments.

Eddie Griffin – Going Broke?

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip with tags , on October 10, 2009 by Staff

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Syracuse University, Your Black World

I had a lot of fun watching the new Vh-1 show, "Going for Broke," starring comedian Eddie Griffin. Griffin is one of the funniest comics in America, the comedian that Chris Tucker could have been (if he would simply stop disappearing between Jackie Chan movies).

On the show, Griffin gives insight into his personal life, which is both intriguing and disturbing. The show is called "Going for Broke" for a reason, because Eddie just might actually get there.
Here are some reasons that Eddie Griffin might actually become the broke celebrity that he is trying to become:

1) He spends like a damn fool. One of the easiest traps for an entertainer to fall into is the "infinite money trap." That’s when the person thinks that they’ve got an endless supply of cash, giving them ability to spend whatever they want on whatever they want. Apparently Eddie may have fallen into this trap, since his Bentley was being repossessed in an early episode of the show. Eddie’s conversation with his accountant was also revealing, as the words "all the accounts are empty" seemed to strike him hard. With all the success that Eddie Griffin has had, it is difficult to imagine that he would be completely broke. But the truth is that this kind of thing happens all the time.

Richard Samuel McCroskey has been arrested in connection with the killings of four people in Virginia.

They were thinking animal. A dog, a cat, something like that. They never imagined they were smelling the remains of massacred humans. It was Thursday, September 17. But another 24 hours would pass before police made the gruesome discovery.

Richard Samuel McCroskey III — a 20-year-old rapper in the underground genre of "Horrorcore" who sang of chopping people into pieces — has been arrested in connection with the slayings. The crime scene was so horrifying police would not even describe it, saying only that the victims died of blunt force trauma.

The victims were Mark Niederbrock, 50, the beloved pastor at Walker’s Presbyterian Church; his 16-year-old daughter, Emma Niederbrock; Melanie Wells, Emma’s 18-year-old friend from West Virginia; and Niederbrock’s estranged wife, Debra Kelley, 53, a professor at Longwood University.

McCroskey has been charged only in the killing of Mark Niederbrock. Police and the prosecutor’s office did not return repeated phone calls from CNN. But in late September, authorities said more charges are pending.

What Makes Women Want to have Sex?

Posted in black gossip, black love with tags , on October 5, 2009 by Staff

What makes a woman want to have sex? Is it physical attraction? Love? Loneliness? Jealousy? Boredom? Painful menstrual cramps?

Many women interviewed were having sex purely because they wanted the experience.

It turns out that woman have sex for all of these reasons and more, and that their choices are not arbitrary; there may be evolutionary explanations at work.

Psychologists Cindy Meston and David Buss, both professors at the University of Texas at Austin, decided that the topic of "why women have sex" deserved a book of its own. They’ve woven scientific research together with a slew of women’s voices in their new collaborative work, "Why Women Have Sex," published September 29 by Times Books.

"We do bring in men occasionally by way of contrast, but we wanted to focus exclusively on women so that the complexity of women’s sexualpsychology was not given the short shrift, so to speak," said Buss, a leading evolutionary psychologist.

The authors conducted a study from June 2006 to April 2009 that asked women whether they had ever had sex for one of 237 reasons, all of which had emerged in a previous study. About 1,000 women contributed their perspectives. Video Watch women answer The Question »

It turns out that women’s reasons for having sex range from love to pure pleasure to a sense of duty to curiosity to curing a headache. Some women just want to please their partners, and others want an ego boost.

I was flipping through a Women’s Health recently (I admit it), and I noticed an interesting poll. Women cited the following as the most common breakup reasons:

When I was little, it drove me crazy when my parents supported "no" with "because I said so." I always wanted a reason. I’m not sure if knowing why always helps, but perhaps if you know common reasons guys break up with girls, you’ll at least be able to see it coming. So, here are mine:

I Got Bored: I’ve read many different hypotheses on attention span, but my favorite is (Wikipedia):

"Continuous attention span, or the amount of time a human can focus on an object without any lapse at all, is very brief and may be as short as 8 seconds. After this amount of time, it is likely that an individual’s eyes will shift focus, or that a stray thought will briefly enter consciousness."

It’s understandable that Nike would be wary of resuming business with a man convicted of running an illegal dog-fighting operation that horrified the nation. Yet on Wednesday, Mike Principe, managing director of Vick’s agency, BEST, apparently believing that Nike had re-signed his client, announced as much at an event hosted by SportsBusiness Journal. Without disclosing details of an arrangement, Vick’s agent, Joel Segal, said, "Mike has had a great relationship with Nike and is excited to be part of the Nike team again."

But on Thursday, Nike denied that it had re-signed Vick but said it had agreed to supply "product" to him "as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike."

Tiger Woods has become the first sportsman to break through the billion-dollar earnings barrier, Forbes magazine reported on Thursday.

The 33-year-old American, who has won 14 majors, reached the latest landmark of his career when he won a 10-million-dollar bonus for his FedEx Cup victory last weekend.

According to the magazine’s calculations, Woods went into the 2009 season on 895 million dollars which included prize money, endorsements, appearance fees as well as money earned through his golf course design business.

Even before picking up his end of season bonus, Woods had earned 10.5 million dollars on the USPGA Tour this year, winning six titles.

The Secret Serviceannounced today that a juvenile was behind the Facebook posting that asked whether President Obama should be assassinated, calling it a prank that would not lead to prosecution.

The agency declined to release the juvenile’s name, age or residence.

The Facebook posting, put up Saturday but since removed, posed a quiz to readers, "Should Obama be killed?" The options were no, maybe, yes, and "yes, if he cuts my health care."

Nicole Spence: What if your Girl Does Some Freaky Stuff?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1, 2009 by Staff

by Nicole Spence

Hey guys,
I know I’m late but Let’s get busy( in my Aresenio Hall voice! Lol),
I have an interesting Dear Nicole letter read below:
the other night while getting some head from my girl she tried something new and stuck a finger in my azz and i nutted like i never before and it felt really good but i don’t want her to think I’m gay or something how do i tell her i really liked that shit damm why did it feel so good? i need to know because if felt so fucking good but i’m no fag is that acceptable? thanks
Wow!! My first reaction is that you’re not gay! But Let’s be clear if a man that I’m seeing asked me to put a finger in his booty, I would immediately think his ass was gay!!
I mean that’s just a hell of a request!
But you didn’t ask for it, your girlfriend just tried something new and it turns out you dig it! It’s actually kinda cool, that you guys are delving into uncharted territory like that. Sounds freaky but she is teaching you about your body. So that’s cool! And I don’t think you have to tell her how much you liked it, I’m sure she can tell by your reaction! Shooot if she likes to "Rep her city" as much as I do, she’ll be doing that shit again and again for that same explosive reaction! Congrats!!

Dr. Boyce Watkins speaks on the “Sippin Syrup” Drink Being Sold in Stores

Posted in black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip, black news with tags on September 29, 2009 by Staff

by Dr Boyce Watkins, Syracuse University

You’ve probably heard the phrase "sippin syrup," used in reference to the act of mixing cough syrup, codeine, and soda together to create a relaxed feeling within the person who consumes the beverage. The "drank" has become quite popular, particularly in the south, as rappers have done their jobs of giving free promotion to an illegal product that has managed to make teenagers even less productive than many of them already are.
It was only a matter of time before corporate America stepped in to make money off the trend. Meet the new drink on store shelves: Sippin Syrup. The drink doesn’t use any illegal products, but produces the same "lean" effect that many young people seek from the cough syrup product on the street. Harmless enough, right? Not so fast.
Officers in the Houston area are concerned that the product sold on store shelves is nothing more than a gateway to an incredibly dangerous and addictive drug. The snazzy ad campaign fully leverages the power of the brand of "purple stuff" being sold on the streets already. Teenagers who can’t get the real stuff would likely be enticed by the substitute until the door is open for the actual product.

Damn Mr. Mayor – We didn’t know you had it like THAT!

Posted in black celebrity gossip, black gossip, black news on September 29, 2009 by Staff

clevelandmayorbrewer2

Mayor Eric Brewer has to regret the day that he came out of the closet so to speak, lambasting a local television station for airing out his sequin-laced dirty laundry.

Coming less than a week before he faces poll goers via a voting booth, the mayor of East Cleveland has been sited in rare form; looking fabulous in an amber wig and Jimmy Choo’s.

In a move lambasted by Brewer, WKYC’s Channel 3 was the first media outlet to shed light on the startling revelation, sending the picture and subsequent mayoral race into the stratosphere.

Reading a statement outside his campaign headquarters, the incumbent mayor vented his frustration with the event via a statement that left more questions than answers.

“I had not seen any of the pictures until WKYC’s broadcast yesterday evening.” To date, he has refused to say or deny whether the person pictured is him.

Members of Brewer’s campaign have named his opponent, City Council President Gary Norton, as their chief suspect into their search to find whomever leaked and circulated the photos.

Mayor Brewer is also looking into whether police involvement may have played a part in the affair due mainly to the firing of multiple officers during his freshman term.

Former Mayor of East Cleveland, Saratha Googins, says that she knew of the picture for years.

Tyson Would Sleep with Obama?

President Barack Obama/Tyson Beckford

"I don’t actually go that way, though I notice a lot of people think I do. But umm, you know what, if Imma do it, I’m going for [Barack] Obama. If I got with him, I could run the country. If I was that way, Obama, I’d be gunning for you brother! I’d be the one in control. That’s if I was that way. Who you gonna go for? Will Smith? Somebody pretty like that? Not to say Obama’s not pretty. But I’d go straight for Obama because you got power then. You could run red lights and just wild out. And I’d have Michelle [Obama]hold the camera!"

– Supermodel Tyson Beckford answering: "If you had to spend the night with a man, who would it be and why?"

Can Ebony Magazine survive in the digital age?

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, MSNBC’s TheGrio.com, Your Black World

The black journalism students here at Syracuse often come to me to find out how the industry works. They sometimes instinctively wonder if their professors’ stories about being in a CBS newsroom in 1982 are going to help them survive in a world run by Twitter, Myspace and Facebook. The answer is a resounding "probably not."

While respecting the journalism professors teaching their classes, I simply use examples like Ebony Magazine to help them realize that black media is changing, and sites like theGrio.com, BlackVoices.com, and TheRoot.com, are examples of how black media has evolved. In fact, a journalist who doesn’t understand technology and business models is in danger of starting his/her career as a dinosaur.

When it comes to recent reports about Ebony Magazine being offered for sale, I admit that I was saddened, but not surprised. The Ebony Fashion Fair has become one of the most celebrated events in black America, and the magazine has been nothing less than a tremendous source of national pride since its creation in 1945. But in the age of the web, oversized bureaucracies can be crushed under the weight of their own arrogance. Bloated payrolls, pompous corporate functions and a sense of entitlement make them easy prey for quick, hungry and rapidly evolving competition.

In spite of the tremendous love we have for Ebony/Jet, the truth must be confronted when realizing that it is what radio was to TV or what the train was to the airplane. Like radios and trains, there is still a place for print media, but that role is no longer dominant. The current economic climate only accelerated the inevitable, since advertisers were eventually going to stop spending $50,000 for magazine ads when they can buy the same number of eyeballs for $5,000 or less.

I present the following 5 questions I’d like to ask out loud about both Ebony Magazine and the state of African American media:

Hollywood Director Arrested for Drugging and Raping a 13-year Old Girl

Filmmaker Roman Polanski has been arrested on an arrest warrant stemming from a decades-old sex charge, Swiss police said Sunday.

Roman Polanski attends a film premiere in Paris, France, in June 2009.

The Academy Award-winning director pleaded guilty in 1977 to a single count of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, acknowledging he had sex with a 13-year-old girl, but fled the United States before he could be sentenced. U.S. authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in 1978.

He was taken into custody trying to enter Switzerland on Saturday, Zurich police said.

Polanski, 76, has lived in France for decades to avoid being arrested if he enters the U.S. He declined to collect his Academy Award for Best Director in person when he won it for "The Pianist" in 2003.

He was en route to the Zurich Film Festival, which is holding a tribute to him, when he was arrested by Swiss authorities, the festival said.

Polanski was nominated for best director Oscars for "Tess" and "Chinatown," and for best writing for "Rosemary’s Baby," which he also directed.

"Roman Polanski, who is one of the greatest film directors of all time, would have been honored for his life’s work in Zurich today," the film festival said in a statement.

Black News: Why Michael Vick Has Been Good for Animal Rights

Maybe it was one of the times John Goodwin found a more receptive audience while lobbying politicians for stricter sentencing against dogfighting.

Maybe it was one of the times a law enforcement training session was packed with police.

Maybe it was while he was riding along on what is an increasing number of raids on dogfighting operations.

Whenever it was, there was a moment over the past two years that Goodwin, the anti-dog fighting expert at the Humane Society of the United States, realized that of all the unexpected things, a silver lining had formed in the ugly clouds of the Michael Vick(notes) scandal.

“People campaigned against dogfighting ever since the first dogfight ever happened,” Goodwin said. “But never had there been a spotlight put on this issue like when Michael Vick was involved in it.

All we can say is “deeyam”: And you Sing in the Church?

Earlier this month, clips of a taped television interview that gospel music sensation Tonex conducted for ‘The Lexi Show‘ (on the Gospel network) surfaced on the Internet and caused a heated frenzy within the black religious industry. During the revealing conversation, the internationally renowned music superstar (nee Anthony Williams III) talked candidly about his homosexuality, his failed marriage and his thoughts on the black church. As expected, when someone touches upon such a taboo subject, it strikes a chord among others. But as the multiple Stellar Award-winning virtuoso tells it, in his very own words, it was a lot more than he ever bargained for. Below is Tonex’s exclusive testimony to BlackVoices.com:

What if He’s Cheating on you?

Posted in black gossip, black love on September 27, 2009 by Staff

I just found out after 28 years of marriage that my husband had a seven-month affair with a co-worker. He would drink with her at a bar and then they would have sex. After a few months, she became pregnant, and my husband did not tell me. He didn’t have anything to do with her or the child. I am really confused and don’t know what to do. The child is now 9 years old.

Sandra
This is a very difficult and fearful situation, and it is exacerbated by the length of time that has passed since the affair took place. Over the years, partners grow and change, and you have to learn to love the new incarnations of themselves in the present. Your best choice is to take stock of who your husband is now based on the choices he has made in his life and who you are now, and ask yourself if he is still the man you want to be with. As for the child, your husband chose to relinquish his role as father so that you would never find out about the affair. This was not a choice he made to protect you, but rather to protect his position in your marriage. If he had wanted to protect you, he would not have had the affair. You have to ask him if he has changed and if he is remorseful for the decisions he made in his past. Then you have to ask yourself if his actions have proven that he has truly changed.

Dr. Boyce Watkins Asks if BET Stepped Over the Line with “Skank Robbers”

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, black celebrities, black celebrity gossip, black gossip on September 25, 2009 by Staff

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Your Black World, Syracuse University

During the BET Awards, Martin Lawrence and Jamie Foxx did a skit called "Skank Robbers," which you can watch below. Some have argued that the video goes over the top, producing stereotypical images of black women to the point of being offensive. Referring to them as "skanks" was enough to draw the ire of many African Americans, but there was also a point in the video in which the narrator says, "From the producers of ‘Planet of the Apes’."

This video leads to the following questions as it pertains to BET:1) Who’s making the decisions? I’d love to see what thought process goes into deciding to make R. Kelly your keynote performer right after he is accused of creating child pornography, or having Lil Wayne sing about wanting to have sex with every girl in the world while underage girls are dancing on stage. I don’t hate BET, and I’ve done a great deal of work with them in the past, but I would like very much for them to explain to the public exactly how they operate.

Census Worker Lynched in Kentucky

Posted in black gossip on September 24, 2009 by Staff

A U.S. Census worker found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery had the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment.

The law enforcement official, who was not authorized to discuss the case and requested anonymity, did not say what type of instrument was used to write the word on the chest of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and teacher. He was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky.

The Census Bureau has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, pending the outcome of the investigation. An autopsy report is pending.

Nicole Spence on Love: What You Think about a Lil Swingin?

Posted in black gossip, black love, black news with tags , , on September 23, 2009 by Staff

by Nicole Spence , Your Black World

So I was on the way to school talking on the phone with one of my girlfriends. I brought up a previous conversation that I had with my friend Jack. Just recently Jack invited me to go with him to check out this Sex club in Brooklyn. Jack knows damn well that I won’t be partaking in any of the reckless behavior, but we both figured it would be juicy material for me to write about, if I wasn’t such a damn fraidy cat, and I actually had the balls to enter such a place.
The crazy shit is nasty people are everywhere, as I’m walking and chit chatting to my surprise this clean cut black guy over hears my conversation. As I attempt to cross the street he stops me. Now I’m thinking “ Oh you want my number?” But No! He tells me “ I didn’t mean to over hear your conversation, but I did. My girlfriend and I are looking for a new Sex club, can you tell me the name of the one you were just speaking about?” Get the fuck outta here! You swing? He begins to ask if I’m apart of the “community” I say, "No" followed by a very loud weird laugh. Lol

Scumbag Alert: Did This Man Murder His Children?

Posted in african american news, black gossip with tags , on September 21, 2009 by Staff

Florida authorities were searching Sunday for a 33-year-old man after his wife and five children were found dead in their Naples home.

Mesac Damas pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor battery against Guerline Damas in June.

The bodies of Guerline Damas, 32; Michzach, 9; Marven, 6; Maven, 5; Megan, 3; and Morgan, 11 months, were discovered Saturday, Rambosk said.

Authorities have been unable to locate Mesac Damas, who possibly left the country Friday morning and may be in Haiti, Capt. Chris Roberts of the Collier County sheriff’s department said Sunday at a news conference.

"We don’t see at this point any indication of an individual out in the neighborhoods committing additional crimes or homicides, but certainly we will look at every opportunity," Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said at an earlier news conference.

There had been a "handful" of domestic disturbance calls to police since 2000 involving the Damas couple, with the latest resulting in the arrest of Mesac Damas in January, Roberts said. Mesac Damas pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor battery against Guerline Damas in June, and Roberts said he does not think Mesac Damas served any jail time for the crime.

Shocking: Haitian Mother and 5 Young Children Found Dead

Posted in african american celebrity gossip, african american news, black gossip on September 20, 2009 by Staff

A Collier County Crime Scene Investigator removes bags of evidence from a home where authorities say Guerline Damas and her five children were found dead Saturday evening.
NAPLES, Fla. — Five young children and their mother were found dead in a Florida apartment, and authorities were searching Sunday for the woman’s husband, who had left the country.

Mesac Damas, 33, boarded a flight to Haiti from Miami International Airport on Friday, said Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Michelle Batten. Damas has family from Haiti, she said. Sheriff’s officials said they want to talk to Damas, who is a person of interest.

The victims were identified as Guerline Damas, 32, and her children: Michzach, 9; Marven, 6; Maven, 5; Megan, 3; and 11-month-old Morgan. Batten would not say how they died, but according to the Fort Myers News-Press, Guerline Damas’ brother, Foren Dieu, said police told relatives that the victims’ throats were cut.

Family members contacted authorities Thursday saying they hadn’t heard from the mother. A missing person report was filed the next day, and on Saturday, the sheriff’s office entered the home in a gated community in Naples and found the bodies, Batten said.

Mayweather overpowered the smaller, lighter Juan Manuel Marquez for an unanimous decision Saturday night, maintaining his perfect record in his comeback from retirement.

Mayweather knocked down Marquez in the second round and then peppered him with countless damaging shots to remain unbeaten (40-0, 25 KOs). Still, his impressive effort couldn’t be viewed without weighing the obvious disadvantages in height and strength faced by the talented Marquez, a 130-pounder just 18 months ago who moved up two weight classes for this once-in-a-career payday at the MGM Grand Garden.

News: Well-Known Publicist Gives PR Advice to Kanye West and Serena Williams

Posted in african american celebrities, african american celebrity gossip, african american news, black celebrity gossip, black gossip on September 20, 2009 by Staff

Karen Taylor-Bass, a well-known publicist, decided to go out of her way to give some PR advice on how Serena and Kanye can save their damaged public images.  Read what she had to say:

Kanye West Latest Ego Trip

“Last night, I was watching the VMA with my 9 year old son, as he was packing his books for school.  As I was explaining to him the significance of the MTV Awards, as a former Music Publicist, the mood shifted from this is cool to … this is crazy.

I was shocked by Kanye West’s latest ego tripping antics. Lets be real, that moment  with Taylor Swift versus Beyonce, was all about Kanye getting some "shine" aka spotlight.   Countless times we excuse Kanye for his childish, ego- "me" moments, however, this time his friends should really answer and heed Madonna’s call during her  tribute to Michael Jackson. Perhaps, Kanye needs a reality check and someone to talk to? Maybe, its a cry for help? What I do know is that  it’s not okay to take to social media an issue an apology time and time again … you were man enough to take the mic from Taylor Swift, be man enough to publicly apologize.

Kanye you need to take a time-out, and re-brand your image.. We want to believe in your brilliance, but not like this. “

Serena Williams’ Costly Moment

“Serena Williams allowed poor judgment to take center stage on Saturday at the United States Open which possibly cost her the title, endorsements, fans, and most importantly, a damaged BRAND . The angry black woman as a brand is not palatable for mainstream media. Upon seeing the tape, I must say Serena Williams got real ‘hood’ with the line judge and her behavior was out of pocket.

Athletes, especially Black athletes, must remember this is a business and your brand is your business. If you are known for grace, dignity, and being a champion, well display that at all times. John McEnroe got away with many antics during his reign, however, with the advent of technology — every emotion, word and behavior is captured for the world to see. And sadly, Black athletes are judged by a different standard. All is not lost as it relates to damage control — issue a mea culpa immediately to the officials, fans, Kim Clijsters, etc.,  and show the world all  champions are human with flaws with moments.”

Caster SemenyaCaster Semanya’s gender fiasco manages to get worse. E-mail correspondence found by the South African newspaper Mail & Guardian shows that her team doctor Harold Adams and athletics boss Leonard Chuene did indeed know that Semenya was tested in South Africa before the World Championships in Berlin but kept Semenya in the race even after they found out that her test results were "not good."
Semenya crossed the 800-meter finish line a full minute before her competitors. Her time, coupled with her supposed virile looks, prompted championship officials to order a gender test.

On Sunday, Houston Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson(notes) wore shoes bearing a message designed to get him more money. They ended up having the exact opposite effect.

Robinson was fined $25,000 yesterday for wearing customized Nike cleats with the words "Pay Me Rick" written on the heel during the team’s season opener Sunday. The message was intended for Texans GM Rick Smith, who had placed the franchise tag on Robinson after failing to sign him to a long-term contract over the offseason. After sitting out all of training camp because of the dispute, Robinson finally signed the one-year tender a week before the season began. It will pay him $9.957 million in 2009, or $9.932 million after he pays that fine.

oprah1

A new tell all book has emerged and it’s about Tyler Perry and his many rumored relations with females in the industry including Tyra Banks and Oprah. Pop the hood for the details.

A book entitled Tyler, an acronym for T.he one Y.ou L.east E.xpected R.evealed:  Uncensored Tell All Book about the REAL man behind the make-up and dress, alleges that the Tyler Perry you see isn’t the Tyler Perry you get.  The author is really trying to throw Tyler under the bus and even has audio of him going off about some “undisclosed” female who is feeling him too much saying “the b*tch is crazy.”
